If you still drink from the faucet without filtering your water, you may want to think twice.
You can find out how your water tests by searching your zip code on EWG. They have a tap water database.
Years ago, my Chiropractor expressed that it's important to consume clean water and food. I couldn't agree more. I was wanting to start a family and it was important to me that I overhauled my life to ensure I was consuming clean water and food, in addition to wearing clean personal care items. Becoming aware of what I was putting in, on, and around me became priority.
When I looked up my local tap water score, there were nine contaminants that exceed EWG heath guidelines and 15 total contaminants in my local water. The site then proceeds to give you information about each of them.
This had me thinking. I began to research filters and came across a system called the Berkey. I knew I was not in my forever home so I didn't want to install a whole house filter. The Berkey was appealing because it's free standing.
According to Berkey’s website, “The versatile Big Berkey Water Filter removes viruses, pathogenic bacteria, cysts and parasites and extracts harmful chemicals such as herbicides, pesticides, VOCs, organic solvents, radon 222 and trihalomethanes. It also reduces rust, silt, sediment, foul taste and odors and unhealthy minerals such as lead and mercury. This system is so powerful it can remove red food coloring from water without removing the beneficial minerals your body needs. Virtually no other system can duplicate this performance.”
When I saw cysts... I almost gaged. We also did the red dye test and sure enough the water came out clean.
